On the question: “What do you believe concerning the Holy Spirit?’’ the answer is brief: ‘’First, He, as well as the Father and the Son, is eternal God. Luther said that Christ’s ascension is not a change of venue, but of state. His body was deified with His ascension and became omnipresent. Christ is according to His divinity, but also to His humanity everywhere. Is this right? This evening’s Devotion service is for everyone and you are invited to come and be taught out of the Great confession of comfort, the Heidelberg Catechism. When Paul wrote to the church in Ephesus, he did not try to explain the resurrection of Christ. No, he accepted it as a God-given fact. For…: “faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” (Heb. 11:1). In light of this, we see that our Confession in Lord’s Day 17 also accepts the resurrection as a God-given fact. What is the church? We are the church! To be church and to join the church is all about Jesus. The church is in a close unity with Jesus and is like a bride and a Groom (Ephesians 5). Jesus loves the church and Jesus is building His church, Matthew 16:18, and He expects us to be as His co-workers, 1 Cor. 3:9, to be busy with Him and His Word and Spirit, in His household.  Our Lord is honoured if His church follows Him in obedience and lives in unity with one another through His Word and Spirit.  All our work should start with Jesus.
